KNX TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM

A modern KNX stack
for secure building automation.

Innovera is engineering a complete KNX software stack for TP1, KNXnet/IP and RF Multi — with System B profile targets, KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure designed in from the protocol core. Built for manufacturers creating gateways, room controllers, HVAC interfaces and future certified KNX devices.

A single stack for TP1, KNXnet/IP and RF Multi.

One codebase for KNX media and IP services, with KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure designed around the KNX security model. Built around System B profile targets with a portable runtime layer so the same core can serve gateways, controllers and OEM modules.

Why Innovera · 02

Engineered to be installed, certified, and trusted.

We are not wrapping someone else's stack. Innovera is a ground-up implementation informed by years of building, deploying and supporting KNX systems in the field.

01
Engineered for embedded.
Deterministic memory, no dynamic allocation, MCU-agnostic HAL. Designed to fit on the controllers you actually ship — not just reference boards.
02
Certification in mind from day one.
Built against the KNX Association test specifications. Conformance, security and interoperability are first-class targets, not afterthoughts.
03
Secure communication by design.
KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure are integrated at the core — not bolted on. Group key tables, secure commissioning data and sequence tracking are part of the API.
04
Built by people who shipped real systems.
The team behind Innovera has installed, integrated and serviced KNX in hotels, residential and commercial sites. We design for the field, not the lab.

A stack that takes the bus seriously. Because the buildings on the other end of it are.

Use cases · 03

One stack. Many product surfaces.

The same Innovera core targets the controllers, gateways and OEM modules your roadmap depends on — without forking the protocol implementation.

Security · 04

Secure by construction, not by patch.

Innovera is built around KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure from the protocol layer upward. Secured group objects and configured KNXnet/IP service families use authenticated, replay-protected communication, while plain interoperability remains available where the KNX configuration allows it.

AES-128 CCM
Authentication and optional confidentiality for secured KNX telegrams.
KNX IP Secure
Secure Wrapper protection for configured KNXnet/IP service families.
Group key table
ETS-managed group keys with sequence tracking and replay protection.
Secure commissioning
ETS-managed provisioning of tool keys, group keys and secure service settings.

Questions OEMs and integrators ask.

The Innovera KNX stack is a complete, ground-up software stack for the KNX building-automation protocol. It covers TP1, KNXnet/IP and KNX RF Multi media, targets the System B device profile, and includes KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure from the protocol core. It is sold to manufacturers, OEMs and integrators building certified KNX devices.

Innovera supports KNX TP1 (the twisted-pair medium), KNXnet/IP for IP-based KNX traffic, and KNX RF Multi for wireless KNX. The stack is architected so a product can include one medium or several without changing the application layer.

Yes. KNX Data Secure (authenticated and confidential group communication) and KNX IP Secure (secure session and tunnelling per KNX Standard v3.0.0, document 03_08_09) are designed into the protocol core, not bolted on. AES-128 CCM cryptography is reused from the platform’s mbedTLS where available.

The stack is built for manufacturers, OEMs and integrators developing KNX gateways, room controllers, HVAC interfaces, hotel-room automation and certified KNX endpoints. It targets engineering teams who need a clean, certifiable, reusable KNX implementation rather than a black-box module.

The stack is pure C with statically allocated state and a thin per-target platform layer. The primary target is the Nordic nRF52 family; STM32 is a secondary target; an ESP32 build is used where IP connectivity is required. The stack is also host-runnable on Linux for protocol verification and continuous integration.

Innovera is consumed as a static archive (libknx.a on host, lib-knx-stack.a on PlatformIO targets). A consuming firmware project configures the stack through include/knx/knx_config.h or a knx_user_config.h, calls knx_init() and knx_start() once, and drives knx_loop() from its main loop. Integration support and pre-release stack builds are available to OEM partners.
